Efficient, round-the-clock capacity to communicate clearly can be critical in some situations. Hytera’s radio systems provide the ability to respond efficiently to any rescue team call out, keeping rescue teams safe on the way to, and at, the scene of emergencies.
In complex rescue environments, teams have to be able to communicate clearly and instantly between teams on the ground, rescue bases, control vehicles and helicopters.
Remote locations can be a major challenge for SAR teams; when it comes to bringing emergency crews in and getting survivors out – even in good weather conditions.
With a full range of TETRA network radios, handheld DMR and analogue UHF and VHF radios with emergency features and portable outdoor repeaters, coverage can be achieved at the location of any incident:
- moving convoys
- dangerous terrain
- high altitudes
- Remote mountain ranges
There may be multiple emergency services and volunteers to co-ordinate, so the ability to access the correct channels and frequencies is a must. Rescue teams on the scene must also be able to communicate with support vehicles, bases, helicopters and scouting parties who all have different set ups.
Compatibility between different manufacturers and systems is not always as straightforward as it seems, but Hytera UK’s radios have been certified by national digital radio communication systems bodies including the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) as fully compliant with national networks and high security requirements.

We incorporate these qualities into all of our products as standard - and it means that our radios and systems are regularly playing an active role in rescue and relief operations all over the globe.
In recent years, this has included helping teams working in serious and dangerous situations, such as the Wenchuan earthquake (2008), tsunami in Japan (2011), Typhoon Yolanda (Philippines, 2013), an earthquake in Nepal (2015), an earthquake in Italy (2016), and an earthquake in Mexico (2017).
Hytera has also donated communications equipment to the Indonesian Red Cross following earthquakes and tsunamis during October 2018. This helped improve collaboration and efficiency in the search, rescue and evacuation in Central Sulawesi and Lombok - where landslides and damage to the power supply and traditional network infrastructure had made communication a significant challenge.
Typical Features
EMERGENCY MODE
Raise an alarm with top priority to a base station or to other radios with the pre-programmed emergency mode, identifying the ID of the person issuing the alarm. Also receive emergency notifications.
MAN DOWN
The man down feature will let you know if the radio has been tilted past a certain angle. This may happen for instance if the radio user has fallen over or is unconscious or injured. The alarm will be triggered after a warning is issued to the user.
PRIORITY INTERRUPT
Send a priority transmission to interrupt other calls, ideal for important, critical messages.
GPS
Optional (device dependent), enabling location based services to improve safety and control.
LONE WORKER
The Lone Worker feature uses a timer in the radio to measure inactivity. If the timer expires, a warning is issued, and if there is no response to that, the alarm is triggered.
ROAMING
Traverse networks, moving from LTE to DMR and back seamlessly to ensure you always remain connected. Dual SIM slots as standard.
